Getting there from Burgas
Regional buses to Pomorie leave from the Yug (South) bus station, right beside Burgas railway station in the city centre, with fares in the €3–6 range and journeys of roughly 20–25 minutes. Buy at the counter or from the driver, and keep coins for the return — Bulgaria uses the euro since 1 January 2026, but small operators are still cash-friendly. What Pomorie is actually for
The town sits on a narrow peninsula between the sea and a salt lagoon, and that geography is the whole attraction:
- Salt — working salt pans and a salt museum explaining the ancient production method.
- Mud — the lake's black lyman mud has been used therapeutically for generations; Pomorie is a spa town, not just a beach town.
- Birds — the lagoon is part of the same Via Pontica flyway that makes Burgas's lakes famous.
- Wine and brandy — Pomorie has a genuine cellar tradition, so a tasting is a legitimate reason to go.
- The monastery and old town lanes, far calmer than Nessebar's causeway crowds.
Doing it during Eurovision 2027
