TL;DR

Skip the car: Burgas is walkable, buses are cheap and frequent, and every classic day trip runs on public transport from one station beside the railway terminal.

The city itself is a 30-minute walk

The railway station, Aleksandrovska, Bogoridi, the Sea Garden and the beach form one flat, compact loop you can cross on foot in about half an hour. Beyond that, Burgasbus runs city buses every 10–20 minutes for roughly €0.80 a single, bought from the driver or a kiosk and validated on board. Line 15 links the airport, the centre and seaside Sarafovo for about €0.80–1.50.

Metered taxis are cheap by European standards at roughly €0.60–1.00 per kilometre, so most cross-city hops stay under €8. Check the rate sticker on the passenger window and order by app or from a rank rather than hailing outside nightlife spots. More detail on getting around.

Day trips run on buses, not car keys

Regional coaches leave from Yug station, right next to the railway station: Pomorie in about 25 minutes, Nessebar around 40, Sozopol around 45, all for roughly €3–6. When a car does earn its keep

Rent one if you want the villages south of Sozopol, Ropotamo or the Strandzha mountains on your own schedule. During Eurovision week, though, parking will be genuinely difficult and roads near the venue are likely to be restricted on show nights — a car becomes a liability, not an asset.
