2DaysinBurgas:ATwo-DayItineraryforFirst-TimeandEurovision2027Visitors

Two days is enough to see Burgas properly. Spend day one on foot around the Sea Garden, the Bridge pier, the beach and a harbour dinner. Spend day two on the pink Atanasovsko salt lake, the museums and a mehana tavern evening. Add a Pomorie, Nessebar or Sozopol day trip if you have a third day.

TL;DR

Day one is the walkable centre, the Sea Garden and the harbour. Day two is the salt lakes, museums and a tavern dinner. It fits a Eurovision 2027 trip or a normal city break.

Burgas is compact. The station, Aleksandrovska, Bogoridi, the Sea Garden and the beach form a loop of under 30 minutes end to end. The lakes and outer districts need a bus or a taxi.

Day 1: Sea Garden, beach and harbour

Morning. Start with sunrise at Central Beach. It has dark volcanic sand, and the wooden Bridge pier is the city's postcard image. Buy banitsa (filo pastry with cheese and egg) at a bakery for breakfast. It usually costs under €3.

Late morning. Walk up into the Sea Garden. It is a clifftop park from 1910, free to enter, with sculpture alleys and an open-air theatre. During contest week it is the natural place for fans to meet.

Lunch and afternoon. Try harbour seafood such as tsatsa (fried sprat) with shopska salad. Lunch is usually served 12:00–16:00. Wander Aleksandrovska and Bogoridi streets afterwards.

Evening. Have dinner at Dock 5 on the port quay for sunset views, and book ahead. Finish with Bulgarian wine at Ti Bar, or on the Bogoridi bar strip.

Day 2: Lakes, museums and a tavern

Morning. Visit the Atanasovsko salt lake. Burgas sits between four wetlands on the Via Pontica bird migration route, so you can see pelicans and flamingos in the same hour. The water turns pink in high summer. Use a bus or taxi to get there.

Afternoon. Visit the archaeological and ethnographic museums, which suit a rainy or hot afternoon. Then have a long lunch in the shaded garden at Incanto.

Evening. Go to a mehana tavern for clay-pot kavarma, kebapche and live folk music after 20:00. A main course typically costs €8–13. Keep some cash on you, because smaller taverns often don't take cards.

Got a third day?

Pomorie is the easiest half-day, about 25 minutes by bus. Nessebar and Sozopol each take roughly 40–45 minutes. See our nearby destinations guide and our Burgas sights guide for more.
